Trip Report : Collaboration with ABC Cooking from Indonesia

CLAIR(Council of Local Authorities for International Relations), ABC Cooking Studio, Okayama City, Maniwa City, and Kibichou Town was collaborated to invite Indonesia ABC Cooking studio’s student to try some “Food” and “Experience” in Okayama city.

(Day 1)

Departed from Jakarta and transit in Haneda Airport to Okayama City. The “Okayama Tourism Caravan Corps” welcomed us in Okayama Airport.
Walked around Okayama Kourakuen and enjoyed the experience wearing Japanese Traditional Kimono in Okayama castle.

We had MuttonBBQ lunch at Hiruzen Kogen Center in Maniwa City. Anyone can enjoy the lamb without worrying about the smell. After lunch, we got an experience to make ice cream using Jersey Milk.


Cycling while enjoying pleasant breeze in Hiruzen Kogen. There were also two-seater bicycles to cycling around.

On the first day, we stayed at Kikunoyu Hot Spring Resort. There were foot baths and open-air baths in Yubara Hot Spring Village. In Kikunoyu, all guest rooms have a view of Asahikawa and the greenery of the mountain, and we also enjoyed seasonal vegetables and local ingredients.

 

(Day 2)
Walked around Katsuyama Street and enjoyed the town scape that showing ancient history of old Katsuyama such as white wall storehouse, lattice window merchant store and got experience to make Bengal dyeing.

In day 2, we had lunch at TABIBITO SHOKUDO. This restaurant is slightly different from other restaurant, they serve different menu every day and they prepare the food together with the visitors which are mostly foreigner. It also to be a place for foreigners and locals to get an interaction. It was very interesting.

We had a jam making experience using local special blueberries at the roadside station in Kibichuo. After finished making the jam, put it into a bottle and you can bring it as a gift.
We also got experience of making dinner with Host family in Ikenogami Farmhouse. We’ve made Japanese home recipe and enjoy the food with all family member.

 

(Day 3)
We went to Kubo farm in Okayama and we’ve harvested “Muscat of Alexandria” as known as The Queen of Grapes that have elegant sweetness and noble scent. You can eat the grapes as much as you want. Because the price was very cheap, we bought and bring it to Indonesia as a gift from Okayama.

We tried experience of sushi making and had lunch at the same time. The chairman though us how to make sushi politely and interestingly during the lunch. At the end of sushi making experience, the chairman gave Sushi Making Certificate to all of us.

※Okayama City, Kibichuo Town, and Maniwa City are working on Muslim friendly to make Muslims traveler can travel in Japan comfortably.
