Winter Snow Experience Tour by Muslim in Okayama

Winter Snow Experience Tour by Muslim in Okayama

Do you know?
In Okayama, there is a group “Muslim Network” with members originate from Indonesia and Malaysia. At this time, we went on a day trip with around 20 Indonesian students members of Muslim Network to experience snow!

Tour began from JR Okayama Station!
We took on the bus and headed for Hiruzen Kogen Plateau in Maniwa City, northern part of Okayama Prefecture. As we were approaching there, our expectation raised as we saw snow piles on the roads and mountains.

● Hiruzen Kogen Center

It took about 1 hour and 30 minutes from JR Okayama Station to reach our first destination, Hiruzen Kogen Center.
This place has facilities such as amusement park, restaurant that can be used by group guests, and also souvenir shop.
It is certified of Peach Mark and has Prayer room. You can also try Mongolian BBQ, halal-certified lamb meat served with healthy vegetables, fried on an iron plate in a spacious restaurant.
There are a lot of souvenirs which can only be bought in Okayama so don’t forget to buy some.

● Hiruzen Milky Factory Tour

We visited a chocolate factory that uses cow milk from Jersey Cow at Hiruzen Kogen Plateau.
Hiruzen Milky Chocolate is scheduled to acquire Peach Mark, signifying Muslim Friendly.

● Play with snow on Hiruzen Kogen Plateau!

Snow can be seen in Maniwa City’s mountain from mid-January to early-February.
On this tour, we visited a nearby camping venue. During the winter, where you can play with snow and some instructors help you to make it safer and more enjoyable.

Snow Sledding: Climb the snowy slopes and hop on the sledge! It’s faster than we thought, scary but looks so fun!

Snowman: When it snows, of course Japanese people also want to make snowman. It’s hard to make a big snowman from small snow ball that does not harden easily.

During the break time, we tried to bake marshmallow, mochi, and dip them into chocolate and soy sauce while burning some wood to keep us warm.
We also tried bread eating competition which usually held during sport competition in Japan.

● Snow Mosque
At the end of the tour, we made a snow mosque hut together. Just place your praying mat and then you’re done. We also encourage you to try it in Okayama during winter.

We also made a small kamakura igloo and lit the lamp.
White snow scenery scene that spreads during the day is indeed beautiful, but fantastic atmosphere at night time is also recommended.

Okayama area is not only enjoyable each and every season but also labeled as Muslim Friendly tourist destination because it provides praying place and also pork-free and alcohol-free food.

When you have time to travel to Japan, please visit Okayama.
